Overview of Marriott Camelback Inn Resort & Spa

Of all the many Resorts Spas I've been to, not just in Arizona but the world over, the Camelback Inn is by far my favorite.  For me it offers the perfect combination of upscale luxury treatments and amenities, a serenely comfortable atmosphere and environment, and a warm and friendly staff.  I try to get to the Camelback Inn a couple of times every year, and it's always been a wonderful experience - I've never left feeling anything but happy, relaxed, and very very satisfied.

A historic landmark of Scottsdale, the JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort is nestled on 125 acres of naturally landscaped desert.  Guests can enjoy an authentic Southwestern experience, secluded luxury casitas, 36-holes of championship golf, and the signature Spa at Camelback Inn.

Originally built in 1936, the Camelback Inn was Scottsdale's first luxury resort, attracting wealthy east coast visitors and Hollywood celebrities who made the long trek to Phoenix by train in order to enjoy the Camelback Inn's grand hospitality and panoramic desert setting.  Many visitors today fondly recall vacationing here as children, and carry on the tradition by bringing their families to enjoy and explore the wonders of the southwest. One of the resort's most unique features is their "Mummy Mountain Western Town" - a thoroughly authentic-looking little ghost town that the Camelback Inn uses for some dinner cookouts and special events - if you have a meeting/wedding/family reunion or other group event, this is the perfect place to experience a true wild west hoedown (complete with a few ranch hands, sassy saloon girls, a country band, swing dancin' and trick ropin') - it's guaranteed to fire up the imagination of kids of all ages.

Purchased in 1967 by JW Marriott Sr., the Camelback Inn became Marriott's first resort, and it was renamed the JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort.   Over the years the resort has undergone several multi-million dollar renovations to keep it at a high level of luxury that visitors to the Camelback Inn have come to expect, including the addition of the 32,000 square foot Camelback Inn Spa, which in 2000 was ranked one of the the Top 100 Spas in the world, a $16 million renovation to the Camelback Inn Golf Club, and an $8 million wall-to-wall renovation of the original resort.  Having received its first 5 Star rating from Mobil Travel Guide in 1969, the Marriott Camelback Inn Resort works hard to maintain, and deserve, its high ratings, including a 5 Diamond Award from AAA.

Today the Camelback Inn Resort still attracts celebrities, presidents, and visitors from all walks of life, and it remains a vacation destination that leaves its guests with fond memories that last a lifetime.

Guests enjoy breakfast, lunch, a snack or cocktail in the Spa’s own restaurant, Sprouts, which features sophisticated, tasty and heart-healthy fare.
